At heart, I'm a 14 year old boy.

While I was waiting for Dana before heading to Vancouver, I took the opportunity to see some of Seattle. Let's Go suggests a couple of things, but I saw a billboard that informed me of my one true goal while visiting the city. There is an enormous Battlestar Galactica exhibit at the EMP/SFM. The EMP/SFM is the Emerging Music Project and Science Fiction Museum, a *museum* that Paul Allen built for some $350 million to highlight the importance of Seattle music. It's located at the base of the Space Needle in a crazy building by Frank Gehry. I tried to take some pictures of the building, but it is hard to capture it's enormous, undulating walls. Anyway, I was thrilled to see the BSG exhibit and I'm sure that all of you will join me marveling at my photos of the full size Viper planes, Head 6's ever-present red dress, the Book of Pythia and the Arrow of Apollo. If you don't know what I'm talking about, all I can say is "frak you, it's you're loss." (I also particularly loved that the EMP audio tour was offered on an ipod and had an miscellaneous selection of Northwestern music that you were welcome to listen to while wandering around. I enjoyed the Nirvana soundtrack as I wandered through the building.)

Afterward, I debated going up in the Space Needle. I've actually done it before (during a visit to my aunt in 4th grade) and I was pretty sure that it's something you really only need to do once. It was a beautiful blue, clear day so I decided that it would be worth the $18.95 elevator charge. It was lovely - nice view and all that. Check. Don't need to do that again. By the way, if someone asks you to take their picture in front of a city-scape (for example from the top of the Space Needle), don't take close up photos of their face. Try a shot with some of the the city in it. I'm just saying...

I went to the Pike Place Market for lunch. It's a fun place to wander -- lots of kitschy shopping is mixed in with the fish market. I saw a couple of crabs tossed around, but I am sad to report that I saw no actual fish tossing. Very disappointing.

A last note about my time in Seattle - I took full advantage of my location and tried to enjoy as much seafood as possible. Dana and I had some fantastic sushi for dinner on Thursday and I loved the crab roll that I got for lunch at Pike's Place. Yummm.
