My nephew was right, Ottawa is great! He specifically loves the "Red Guards," that they have, "like the ones at Buckingham Palace." Sadly, it seems that these guys are seasonal and are wisely inside for the snow. But I still had a great time. I really enjoyed walking around the city and touring Parliamentary Hill. But what I most enjoyed were the pub/bars where I went to dinner. Both nights I sat and listened to live music, enjoyed the really friendly people and watched baseball. What more can a girl ask for? Well sure, the Yankees could have won.
The first time I heard, "Have a great nigh, eh" I thought that the waitress was mocking a Canadian stereotype. I also got an 'aboot' during the Parliamentary Hill tour. Love it. It was the cherry on my sunday.
This is from my phone:
Stop at Tim Horton's for some coffee along your way.
ReplyDeleteYour nephew's last name is spelled MarKus. "just like Buckingham palace" is such a Leola-ism.
ReplyDeletehum. Kinda sad I don't know how to spell their last name. Glad you told me, cuz I just misspelled it on a postcard to them. BTW, still the old address, right?
ReplyDeleteWe'll get it, but maybe not til after you arrive here.
