When you lose the back of an earring in the Red Roof Inn in South Bend, Indiana, accept that it is gone and move on. Do NOT get down on your hands and knees and feel around on the carpet. It is very disturbing and ruins the 'clean' illusion.
Tomorrow I will need to replace this earring back for the second time during this journey. And it's a twist back, so what the hell? Last time the cost of gold pushed the price up to $20. Let's see how much it costs in Indiana.
**Update** When I got in the car this morning, there was my earring back sitting dead center of the driver's seat. I know you all will be so relieved hearing the good news.
